If you are planning to breed rabbits, a nest box isn’t an optional accessory; it’s a definite must-have item. And not just any nest box will do. If you are raising Holland Lops, Netherland Dwarfs, or some other small breed, you don’t want to use a nest box that is too large. Here at Premium Rabbit Supplies, our small-breed nest box is only 7”w x 12”d x 6 ½” h. It will give a dwarf-breed doe plenty of room to make a nest in, but it will keep the babies snuggled tight together. It won’t take up too much floor space, and, unlike larger boxes, it will fit through a cage door easily. It’s made of strong 24-gauge steel and has a wooden floor that can be removed for cleaning.
The following breeds should have a nest box this size: Holland Lop, Mini Rex, American Fuzzy Lop, Netherland Dwarf, Dwarf Hotot, Polish, Britannia Petite, Jersey Wooly.

The first nestbox I ever bought was a steel one with a wood floor, and that was by far the best box I've ever owned out of many years of breeding rabbits. My dad built me several wooden ones after that, but they were clunky and hard to clean. The steel one is so easy to handle and holds up so well that I definitely plan to get more when I need another nest box!
